The ARBMAX D45 18″ Drum Wheeled Wood Chipper delivers 18″ drum chipper performance in a road-legal, sub-3.5 tonne chassis. It’s aimed squarely at professional arborists, forestry teams and land-clearance operators who need high output, strong feed power and easy transport between sites, without stepping up into heavier plant moves.

High-Torque CAT Power for Demanding Work

At its core, the ARBMAX D45 18″ Drum Wheeled Wood Chipper runs a Stage V CAT C3.6 diesel producing 100 kW (134 hp) with best-in-class torque around 550 Nm. This engine is matched to a twin-plate clutch, so drum engagement stays smooth even under load. Consequently, the chipper keeps pulling hard through big limbs and dense crowns rather than bogging down.

Furthermore, the machine carries 80 litres of diesel and an 80-litre hydraulic tank with a dedicated reversible oil cooler and ECO mode. As a result, the ARBMAX D45 can work extended shifts efficiently while protecting the hydraulic system in tough, hot conditions.

18″ x 24″ Infeed and Aggressive Hydraulic Feed

The feed opening of 450 mm x 610 mm (18″ x 24″) and hopper opening of 1425 mm x 850 mm give the ARBMAX D45 18″ Drum Wheeled Wood Chipper the capacity to accept large forks, tangled brash and substantial stems with minimal pre-cutting. Therefore, your team spends more time chipping and less time snedding and snipping.

In addition, the D45 uses a high-torque hydraulic feed wheel with radial piston motor, a bottom feed roller for extra grip and hydraulically controlled roller pressure. This combination provides aggressive pulling and a “crush” feature for awkward material. There’s also an open-on-demand function for oversized pieces, plus a pivot-opening feed chamber that gives around 200° drum access for maintenance.

Because of this feed system, the chipper can reach around 70 m³/hr throughput in the right conditions, making it suitable for medium to large-scale operations.

Heavy-Duty Drum, Hardox® Chamber and Sizing Screen

The ARBMAX D45 18″ Drum Wheeled Wood Chipper is built around a heavy-duty 4-pocket drum with 4 quick-change knives and 1 reversible anvil. Moreover, the feed area and chamber are lined with Hardox® 450 and fitted with an interchangeable Hardox sizing screen, so you can tailor chip size for biomass or mulch while extending chamber life.

Because the drum, bearings and chamber use oversized premium components, the D45 is designed to survive continuous high-intensity work rather than just occasional use. Quick-change knives and excellent chamber access also reduce downtime and encourage regular maintenance on site.

Road-Towable Wheeled Chassis Under 3.5 Tonnes

Unlike many machines in this capacity class, the ARBMAX D45 18″ Drum Wheeled Wood Chipper sits on a fully galvanised wheeled chassis with a wheeled weight around 3,450 kg, keeping it under 3.5 tonnes (spec-dependent) for EU and UK towing regulations. Therefore, suitable towing vehicles can move the chipper legally without stepping into heavier transport categories.

It can be loaded by hand, crane or excavator, while integrated stop bars support safe hand-feeding. Dual marine-grade multifunction controls give direct control at the hopper.

The Venturi discharge chute includes removable liners and full hydraulic adjustment, with optional extended chute up to 4.1 m for loading into taller trailers or containers. Additionally, a radio remote control system comes as standard, allowing operators to manage feed, chute and hydraulic functions from the excavator cab or a safe vantage point. Consequently, smaller teams can still run the ARBMAX D45 efficiently and safely.
